The ITU has published the fourth in its series of regional statistical reports: “Information Society Statistical Profiles 2009 – CIS”. The 74 page report reviews fixed, mobile, internet and broadband development in Russia and the 11 CIS countries and benchmarks them with an ICT Development Index (IDI) and ICT Price Basket. Unsurprisingly Russia leads in both indicators – its ICT Price Basket is about a third the cost of its nearest rival Ukraine. However Russia does not lead in all areas: Azerbaijan has the highest international internet bandwidth per user, and Georgia has the highest penetration of mobile broadband.
